Physical Education
Sport plays an integral part in school life and personal development
for many Arden pupils. Whether a pupil’s goal is elite performance,
enjoyment of the team spirit or the pure pleasure of participation,
the rich range of both curriculum and extra-curricular sporting
opportunities provided at Arden ensures all our pupils can get
involved, find their niche and fulfil their potential.
Arden’s philosophy is based upon participation where all children
are welcome to attend extra curricular clubs to develop and improve
their individual skills as well as enjoying the health and social
benefits of physical activity. There are regular ‘friendly fixtures’ and
coaching games against children from other schools. By fielding two
or three teams whenever there is the opportunity, we ensure that
every child who wants to has the opportunity to take part. Successes
at County, Regional and National level have also been achieved by
many individuals and teams and are a testament to the talent ,
dedication and devotion that many pupils bring to sport .
We are always looking to add new sporting opportunities for our
pupils such as Girls Basketball, Boys Hockey, Fitness Classes and even
Zumba. Another exciting development in sport has been the
introduction of Sport Leaders and Ambassadors. Leaders and
Ambassadors are usually older students who want to help run
sports clubs, teams and primary school sport where they pass on
their passion and experience to our younger pupils. These students
are excellent role models for younger students.
Our new Multi-Use Games Area will provide our pupils with a state-
of-the-art basketball, netball and tennis facility, as well as a 60 metre
running track. This facility allows our pupils even greater
opportunities to further their skills.
At Arden the school-wide opportunity to participate in enjoyable,
challenging and exciting Physical Education enables pupils to
develop a lifelong passion for exercise and sport, as well as building
their abilities to work as part of a team and encouraging qualities
of commitment, leadership and self discipline.
