Creative Arts and Technology, continued
The passion and commitment of the Faculty’s staff ensures pupils have the
opportunity to be involved in a broad range of extra-curricular events and visits
such as community and national competitions – ‘Future Chef’, ‘Rotary Young
Chef of the Year’, Design Council School Challenges, ProSkills competitions and
the ‘Toyota Solar Powered Car’ Challenge.
The Faculty also leads on Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM)
events, Eco-Schools Award and other whole school activities. Each year the
Faculty hosts an exciting week-long event that provides extra opportunities to
work with artists, experts and universities to expand learning beyond the
classroom, making this one of the most exciting weeks on the school calendar.
Art and Photography
The aim of Art and Photography learning at Arden is to include, motivate and
inspire pupils through a stimulating and challenging curriculum that builds
confidence and a sense of achievement . Talent , freedom of expression and
aesthetic appreciation are nurtured by a dedicated team of staff with a variety
of specialisms.
We recognise the value of experiences beyond the classroom; exposing pupils
first hand to art in action through gallery visits and the chance to work with
visiting artists and designers. Arden provides pupils with the opportunity to
explore a wide range of cultures, ideas and values through exposure to a broad
spectrum of artworks from different periods, and through the discussion of the
ideas, feelings and meanings behind art .
Skills, individuality and creativity are developed through the Key Stages. Pupils
are exposed to a wide range of techniques and media, building upon their
individual drawing and painting, collage and mixed media, print making,
photography, ceramics, sculpture and digital technology talents. As their abilities
grow they are encouraged to build personal portfolios.
