ARD E N
The Sciences play an invaluable role in the comprehensive
education and development of every Arden pupil.
Built around a team of eleven teachers, each with capabilities
covering all three disciplines of Biology, Chemistry and Physics
up to GCSE standard, plus one specialist discipline to A-Level
standard. The Department has nine fully equipped laboratories.
Teachers are expertly supported by three full-time lab technicians.
During Key Stage Three, pupils receive three hours of Science
education each week, covering the fundamentals of Biology,
Chemistry and Physics. These broad topics provide plenty of
opportunity for pupils to carry out experimental and investigative
work with the aim of developing their practical and analytical skills.
Pupils have the opportunity to follow several routes during Key
Stage Four. Each course has been carefully selected to ensure
pupils have the opportunity to maximize their potential on the
correct learning pathway. GCSE courses include ‘Triple Science’,
made up of separate Biology, Chemistry and Physics GCSEs;
‘Double Science’ which includes Core Science GCSE, plus
Additional Science GCSE; ‘Double Applied Science’, a Core
Science GCSE with an Additional Applied Science GCSE.
