Drama
Arden has a respected Drama Department that offers thriving and
popular GCSE and A Level courses. The Department holds the Gold
Arts’ Mark in recognition of the impressive achievements and
opportunities offered by the passionate, energetic team who bring
their professional theatre experience to the school’s large, well-
equipped specialist studio spaces.
More in-depth involvement in drama leads to opportunities to
perform publically in the school and the wider local community, with
the major annual production forming a school calendar highlight
that often involves up to 150 pupils. Each performance’s technical
team is made up of pupils who are encouraged to take the lead in
costume, lighting, set, sound and film work. We formally celebrate
these young professional’s leadership and achievements through
the Arts Award.
Personal performance experience is augmented by regular trips to
see exciting live theatrical performance at important venues, whilst
touring companies, such as Theatre Centre, also perform in Arden’s
own studio. Further extra-curricular opportunities are provided
through the school’s three Drama Club meetings per week. Entitled
‘Plastiscene’ the club boast members from every year group.
