Arden’s Sixth Form College provides a key academic pathway
towards future success. When a student joins Key Stage Five, they
are doing much more than simply ‘moving up a year’. Sixth Formers
are not so much ‘school pupils’ as young adult students.
It’s a new and exciting time in many ways, but our young people
are also assured that a fully structured support network is in place
to guide their decision-making and ensure success.
All students are assigned a Sixth Form Tutor who will help monitor
progress, give guidance, and undertake regular reviews of
performance. These reviews are an excellent chance to identify both
strengths and areas needing more attention, allowing for the fine-
tuning of a student’s studies. Of course we continue to work closely
with parents as well as our Sixth Formers. Parents Evenings and
specially convened meetings ensure that up-to-date information is
disseminated regarding UCAS applications and other important
issues, enabling parents to give the support needed as young
people negotiate the complexities of their studies at Arden.
There is also a great deal of extra-curricular activity to enjoy in
Arden’s Sixth Form. We aim to develop the Leaders of Tomorrow
and so offer many opportunities for development in roles such as a
House Leader, Mentor or Assistant Year Head to name but a few.
Add this to the many activities organised by our Sixth Form
Committee, the involvement of students in the school’s renowned
musical and drama productions, and access to our sports and
leisure facilities, and it becomes apparent that Sixth Form life is rich
in many and varied opportunities.
